The HP-605C looks like a decent clamp meter but when tested, it was very poorly calibrated. The specification is 10mV/A, but when tested against a calibrated 5.5-digit DMM, the result was about 11.75mV/A or an error of 17.5%. Measurement noise also was high at an RMS of 7.8mV with a peak to peak of 61mV. As a result, it's only good for reading accurately to ~1A and not any further. Frequency response is not specified as well, in the DC mode it is about 150Hz while in AC it is probably about 20kHz based on my testing. It uses a 9V battery but the clip itself is weak and flimsy, just like the connection cable. It is poorly packaged, so part of the issue may have been caused by rough shipping. For the price, it is the only option, but it leaves me wanting more.
